It's difficult for Australia to set fresh records.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and once went over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the record chasers, are what's still available for a side that has achieved everything.

The fact it required until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Finally, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her newest gem.

Then best known as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her debut and seven world titles have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Some will argue the case for the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it's been a frustrating experience because it seemed I've had no rhythm whatsoever," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts take over and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from that point the right-hander was on her way.

"A chance to go out there and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

When she was out the team needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if we do, we believe we can do it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this World Cup need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this victory following success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing despite the injury.

But while she later admitted those physical issues have delayed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as leader.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
