19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

This marks his maiden trophy following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since spring of 2023.

Success also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his capacity to play at the highest level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and perform positively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the final five games to go ahead.

The competitors traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour title, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

The opponent saved 4 early break points in a competitive final set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, he secured victory with a rally at the net, with his opponent unable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
