Vehicles in Germany's Town Found Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Police Confirm

Roughly fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.

Police say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.

The substance had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement report initial examinations show the fluid was likely human blood.

"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; investigators are not yet cognizant of any injuries in connection with the event," they stated.

City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the community for tips.

A high-ranking representative stated the vandalism made him without words and required to be solved rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the death of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
